International Human Rights Day

December 10 2024

December 10 marks International Human Rights Day, established by the UN General Assembly on the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (December 10, 1948).
December 10 is also the symbolic end of the “16 Days Against Gender-Based Violence” campaign. The closing ceremony of the campaign will take place in Lithuanian Square (from 5-7pm), which will be illuminated in orange – as a symbol of a safe, violence-free future. International Human Rights Day was chosen not coincidentally for the finale of the Campaign – the use of violence is a violation of human rights!

One of the tasks of the Crisis Intervention Center in Lublin is to undertake preventive and educational activities aimed, among other things, at preventing violence. We are pleased to announce that tomorrow there will be a conference organized by the CIK to summarize the project STOP aggression among young people:
“The Center for Crisis Intervention kindly informs that on 11.12.2024 organizes a Conference entitled: “Stop aggression among youth”, which is a summary of the project financed from the Civic Budget of the City of Lublin. The aim of the project is to promote amicable ways of conflict resolution among children and adolescents.
Peer violence is a problem that affects children and adolescents all over the world. It has a huge impact on the emotional and social development of young people.
Those who have experienced peer violence may have difficulties in adulthood, including in establishing relationships or building self-confidence.
The conference titled “Stop Aggression Among Youth”, will be devoted to, among other things.
summarizing the implemented activities within the framework of the Civic Budget program titled: “Stop Aggression Among Youth” and effective strategies/ways to resolve conflicts occurring among children and adolescents. The event aims to present the general activities of the Crisis Intervention Center and the activities implemented within the framework of the aforementioned project aimed at preventing aggressive behavior among children and adolescents. During the conference we will talk about the activities supporting young residents of Lublin, including the activities of the helpline for children and adolescents, consultations with a child psychologist and psychiatrist, as well as social and educational actions aimed at young people, as well as parents, guardians, teachers, pedagogues and school psychologists. The conference is aimed at promoting amicable ways of resolving conflicts among young people and non-violent communication.
The conference is under the Honorary Patronage of the Mayor of Lublin.”

To mark the final day of the “16 Days Against Gender-Based Violence” campaign, the Center’s building was illuminated in orange

In this way we symbolically joined the initiative of the city of Lublin, which tonight changed the lighting of Litewski Square to the color of this year’s campaign.
Today also saw a workshop aimed at students of Lublin universities entitled. “How to recognize and respond to violence”. Due to great interest, we will repeat it in a week’s time, so that all interested parties can benefit from expanding their knowledge on this important topic.
At the same time, we would like to remind you that assistance in connection with experiencing violence (as well as other crises) can be used by residents of Lublin all year round, 24 hours a day!
