HEALTH LOSS CRISIS
Illness can happen to any of us, and the consequences and situation associated with it can sometimes be very difficult.
Whether there is a sudden loss of health, such as due to an accident, or a loss of health resulting from a chronic illness, we may find ourselves in a crisis situation, that is, circumstances in which we experience a disruption of our previous mental balance. A person experiencing a health loss crisis may experience suffering related to the emotional, cognitive, behavioral, as well as social spheres. What does this mean? Emotionally, anxiety related to threats to life and health, fear of what the future will bring, may dominate. There may be sadness, grief, exhaustion, anger and many other emotions that can be overwhelming. Loss of health can be associated with a temporary or permanent inability to work and perform social roles, which sometimes translates into self-esteem, a sense of being needed, of value. Sometimes you need to adapt to a new reality, and sometimes you just need to survive a temporary crisis. In either case, it is worth seeking psychological support.
Such help – crisis support – is offered free of charge by the Crisis Intervention Center.
