“The purpose of maternity protection is to provide special care to working pregnant women in the workplace and to protect mothers from unfavorable situations in their working lives.
Maternity protection is regulated by the Maternity Protection Law.
WHY IS THERE MATERNITY PROTECTION?
Work should not be a risk or burden during this special period. The law helps avoid inconveniences, dangers and damage to the health of (future) mothers and children. The law also protects against loss of work and loss of income during and after pregnancy.
The Maternity Protection Law regulates, among other things:
– Occupational health protection- Special protection against dismissal- Prohibition of employment in the weeks before and after childbirth- Income security during the employment ban.
TO WHOM DOES THE MATERNITY PROTECTION LAW APPLY?
The provisions of the Maternity Protection Law apply to:
Female full-time and part-time employees and mini-jobs
– Women undergoing vocational training at an enterprise and trainees
– Women with disabilities working in workshops for people with disabilities
– Women working for development
– Women working in youth or federal volunteer work
– Women working at home
– Similar self-employed people who are economically dependent on the client
– Pupils and students, if the place, time and course of study are compulsory
