Support for LGBT+ people

December 8 2022

How to support LGBT+ individuals?

LGBT+ individuals are entitled to enjoy the same rights as other people: the right to freedom of expression, bodily integrity or the right to protection of personal property… Sometimes, however, the situation in Poland indicates a lack of protection of the LGBT+ community from crimes and hate speech. Under Polish law, same-sex unions are not recognized as a family, which consequently affects the lack of a number of rights related to the functioning of everyday life (they do not have the right to inheritance, from the burial of a partner, insurance of a partner by a partner, adoption or pension). LGBT+ people in our country often have to face name-calling, judgment, lack of acceptance, humiliation or social exclusion. What we can do is support LGBT+ people who need support and not be indifferent when we are aware that they are experiencing difficulties in relation to their orientation.
If you are struggling with a crisis and need support, you can find it at the Crisis Intervention Center.
