Young people say ENOUGH – counteracting hate

October 3 2024
Julia from Lubin – a 15-year-old who, because of her rich sensitivity, perceived the world more intensely – both good and bad things. Julia encountered peer violence and it accompanied her for years. The heckling – in which some abusers may have seen an opportunity to make fun of their friend – killed this time.
Lubin is not Lublin…. but this story could have happened anywhere. According to police statistics, the number of cases of suicide attempts by children and adolescents in Poland under the age of 18 in 2023 was 2139, of which 146 ended in death. Police data also show that the youngest of those who made suicide attempts last year were between 7 and 12 years old – 2 such attempts ended in death. It is important to remember that the above data shows us only those attempts and deaths by suicide that were reported to the police. Meanwhile, according to the WHO, for every suicide death of a young person recorded in official records, there are between 100 and 200 attempts.
The main causes of suicide attempts by children and adolescents-according to police-are mental disorders, trouble at home and mobbing at school.
We say ENOUGH.
Enough of hate at school, on the Internet, in peer groups.
Enough of hate among children and young people.
Moved by the suffering of young people, we will devote the coming days to posting information that can be useful in situations of experiencing hate. We encourage you to watch our profile and share valuable content to reach as many young people as possible.
We believe that there are a huge number of sensitive, empathetic people among young people, and it’s not just adults who are saying enough.
Young people are saying ENOUGH.
They need to feel safe.
