We encourage you to listen to an interview with Adam Mołdoch, Deputy Director of the Crisis Intervention Center in Lublin, who spoke on Radio Lublin about the Childhood Without Violence Campaign, the Blue Card procedure, the difference between violence and conflict, and the daily activities of the CIK.
The nationwide Childhood Without Violence Campaign has been running since October 6. The city of Lublin is once again co-creating this initiative at the local level.

The main objectives of the campaign are:

  • promoting content related to the broadly understood prevention of violence against children and domestic violence,
  • raising awareness of the importance of the welfare of children and the fact that any form of violence against children is wrong and should not take place.
According to the latest research by the Dajemy Dzieciom Siłę Foundation, as many as 79% of children experience violence, 32% of which is perpetrated by adults close to them.
Despite the ban on physical punishment in place since 2010, it turns out that every third Pole still considers it acceptable. This is one of the aims of the campaign—to dispel the myths and stereotypes that exist in our country, to counteract them, and to talk about the fact that spanking is a form of violence and is not allowed.
The campaign will last until November 19. This is a special day, not only in Lublin, but also in other cities—public buildings will be illuminated in red, which is, in a sense, a warning sign to say STOP to child abuse. We want to reach as many people as possible so that they hear about this campaign.
We also work with children and young people. The first CIK workshop as part of the Campaign took place at Primary School No. 2 in Lublin, on Mickiewicza Street. CIK crisis intervention specialists talked to young people about hate speech – how to protect yourself from it? What to look out for? How to recognize if you are experiencing it, or perhaps unknowingly using it yourself? The workshops were very successful and well attended. There is a huge demand for this type of activity, meetings with children, young people, and teaching staff. Crisis intervention specialists from CIK are professionals, such as psychologists, social workers, and therapists, who have experience working with children and young people. They are long-time practitioners who can navigate various crisis situations and have knowledge in many areas of life, and their skills allow them to provide support in a professional and efficient manner.
We are planning further meetings – not only on the subject of hate speech, but also domestic violence and violence against children. At Primary School No. 16, we will conduct training on initiating the “Blue Card” procedure, with the aim of, among other things, sensitizing teaching staff to what teachers should look out for when they see that their students may be experiencing domestic violence, and what tasks fall to education professionals. (The meeting will be held as part of the Citizens’ Budget project “YOU ARE NOT ALONE! First psychological aid for children and young people.”)
An important aspect of the Childhood without Violence Campaign is the neighborhood environment. If we, as people in the child’s environment, see something disturbing in the child’s behavior and suspect that they may be experiencing violence, this is already an alarming situation. We initiate a Blue Card in a situation where violence is suspected – we do not need to be certain about it.
The Campaign will run until November 19, the International Day for the Prevention of Violence against Children.
It is worth noting that in our daily practice, we regularly receive requests from schools to conduct workshops or talks with children and/or teachers. We respond on an ongoing basis, providing such support as far as possible and depending on our staff resources.
We can protect children and young people from violence.
We can do this and react in a timely manner if we are able to recognize the problem and know what to look for.
A good childhood gives a child strength!
